Ultrasound-guided Infraclavicular Brachial Plexus Block for Supracondylar Humerus Fracture in a Patient with Central Obstructive Sleep Apnoea due to Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease

چکیده
The use of regional anaesthesia techniques in the presence of degenerative neurological disease is a relative contraindication. The subsequent reticence of anaesthesiologists is perhaps reflected in the absence of any published cases of a CharcotMarie-Tooth (CMT) patient that received a peripheral nerve blockade for surgery. We report a CMT patient, who presented with a supracondylar distal humerus fracture that benefited from an ultrasound-guided infraclavicular brachial plexus block.

Ultrasound Guided Infraclavicular Block for Pain Control After Upper Extremity Surgery
Background: Opioids added to local anesthetics for peripheral nerve blocks may intensify analgesia and prolong analgesic and sensorial block duration. These agents may also cause potentiation and prolongation of motor block. Objective: This study compared the postoperative effects of 30 mL of 0.25% bupivacaine +50 mcg fentanyl and 30 mL of 0.25% bupivaca...
متن کاملInfraclavicular brachial plexus block in Wilson's disease.
Wilson's disease (WD) is characterized by progressive copper accumulation with hepatic and neurological impairment. Anesthesia and surgical practices may exacerbate WD and liver damage, and even cause life-threatening liver failure. Due to this existing liver damage, anesthetic management is important in WD cases in terms of drug choice, dose, and technique used. This study reports an emergency...
متن کاملA randomised comparative evaluation of supraclavicular and infraclavicular approaches to brachial plexus block for upper limb surgeries using both ultrasound and nerve stimulator
BACKGROUND AND AIMS The supraclavicular and infraclavicular brachial plexus blocks have a similar distribution of anaesthesia, and both can be used effectively for surgeries of the upper limb. This study aimed to compare the supraclavicular and infraclavicular approaches of brachial plexus blocks, guided by ultrasound and neurostimulation. METHODS Sixty adult patients scheduled for elective u...

OBJECTIVE To reduce the onset of 0.5% bupivacaine by adding 2% lidocaine with 0.5% bupivacaine for ultrasound-guided and double stimulation technique at musculocutaneous and radial nerve for infraclavicular brachial plexus block. DESIGN Prospective randomized double-blinded, controlled trial study. MATERIAL AND METHOD 90 patients undergoing creation of arteriovenous fistula under ultrasound...

Objectives: Ultrasound-guided supraclavicular and infraclavicular blocks are commonly used for upper extremity surgery. The primary aims of our study were to compare block success, block onset times and performance times; secondary aims were to compare the number of needle advancements, and incidence of adverse events of ultrasound-guided supraclavicular or infraclavicular blocks. Methods: 110 ...
